A primary purpose of dental crowns is to protect fragile teeth, but they can also vastly alter the way a tooth looks.

Dental crowns are made of porcelain which is constructed to look exactly like a natural tooth. They are durable, predictable, and feel natural. Think of them like a tooth ‘cap.’ An outside layer of a tooth is ‘shaved’ off, a mould is made of the tooth, that mould is used to construct a porcelain crown, and the crown is fitted back on the tooth.

Dental bridges are dental crowns, but with an extra ‘tooth’ stuck on the side of the crown. This can be a brilliant option for replacing a missing tooth—the natural tooth beside the space is crowned, and the space where the missing tooth once was is filled with a porcelain tooth attached to the crown.
