Your gums, and the jaw bone underneath it, are what anchor your teeth in place.

Without proper cleaning, these bugs can cause a lot of damage to your gums and bone. When they are damaged, your gums can recede, and unfortunately they don’t grow back. That is why gum health is extremely important.

The main way to keep your gums healthy is properly cleaning your teeth at home using an adequate oral hygiene routine. This should be supplemented with regular professional cleaning at your dentist.

Still, some folks may develop gum disease and require a more intense, deep cleaning at the dentist in order to preserve the health of their gums and bone.
